Abu Dhabi: With the second semester exams for the 2024-2025 academic year starting on March 10, both public and private schools aligned with the Ministry of Education’s curriculum are out to guarantee a disciplined and fair examination environment for students.
In this context, the schools have to follow a series of guidelines, outlining essential tasks, so students are adequately prepared for the exams running till March 19.
Certain activities are prohibited to maintain order in the exam halls and curb any misconduct that could disrupt the testing process.
Strict regulations inside exam halls
School administrations have emphasised that students must adhere to a set of instructions during exams, which include a ban on bringing mobile phones, smart devices, and digital watches into the examination rooms to prevent any attempts at cheating or distraction.
Additionally, students are forbidden from exchanging answers or signals, and any attempt to cheat or assist others is strictly prohibited—ensuring that each student is evaluated solely on individual efforts.
Tech monitoring
With the adoption of electronic testing, schools have also stressed the prohibition on installing any unapproved software on the tablets used during exams—particularly social media apps or programmes that might bypass security systems. Devices will be monitored throughout the exam period to ensure full compliance with established guidelines.
Students are not allowed to bring bags into the exam hall; only essential tools, such as pens and calculators (as per the academic level), are permitted. In addition, there is a strict requirement to adhere to preset configurations on the tablets, including restrictions on screen zooming during the exam, to prevent any tampering with the electronic examination system.
The guidelines further stress that students must not borrow tools from their peers during the exam and should refrain from conversing with others in the hall. These measures are intended to create a quiet atmosphere that aids concentration. School administrations have also indicated that classrooms will be equipped with surveillance cameras to monitor for any irregular behaviour, urging students to maintain composure and act responsibly throughout the examination period.
