UAE’s new Cabinet holds first physical meeting

After a series of remote meetings owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, chaired the first physical meeting of the new cabinet at the Presidential Place in Abu Dhabi on August 3.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed announced that UAE Cabinet meetings will continue from August rather than from September.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness hailed UAE’s success in operating the first peaceful nuclear reactor in the Arab world and the successful launch of Hope Probe.

Stressing the importance of the economy, His Highness said the Cabinet has approved 33 initiatives presented by the new Economy Minister and established a committee to follow up on their implementation. He stated that it has restructured a number of councils and issued new appointments; discussed the government’s structure for the upcoming period and the most important new changes to keep pace with the priorities of the next stage. The Cabinet also approved the new structure of the Ministerial Development Council.

The UAE is able to return to confront the pandemic and return to normal life thanks to its proactive leadership, said Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, at a media briefing in Abu Dhabi on August 3. He affirmed that the unlimited support of the UAE leadership has helped the country to cross the barrier of 5 million laboratory tests for COVID-19, and that the survival rate for those infected with the disease has risen to 90 per cent.

Dr Omar Al Hammadi, official spokesperson of the UAE government, announced that the number of new daily examinations is 27,811. He revealed that 164 new cases were recorded, taking the total number of recorded cases to 61,163. With 248 new recoveries, the total number of recoveries among COVID-19 patients in the country is now 54,863. The number of patients receiving treatment is 5,949.
He said that no deaths were recorded for the third day in a row.
