Two students who attended KEAM exam turn positive; alert issued

Two students who had attended the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) exam on July 16 and a parent have tested positive for COVID-19.

One of the student, a 19-year-old female resident of Karimpanavilakom, Pozhiyoor, Kulathoor was a secondary contact of a COVID-19 positive patient. She attended the examination in the General Hall B of Thycaud Government Teachers Training College. All 20 students who wrote exam in the same hall were identified and directed to be in home quarantine.

Another student is an 18-year-old male student, a resident of AKG Nagar, Avenue I, Peroorkada Thiruvananthapuram, who wrote the examination in a separate room at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Karamana. There were no other students in the room but an invigilator and two other volunteers were present. The invigilator and volunteers have been directed to be in home quarantine

The 47-year-old father of a student and a resident of Manacaud, Muttathara, also tested positive for COVID-19. He has been admitted in a hospital. He had accompanied his son to Cotton Hill sCchool for KEAM exam. The father had remained in the school premises till the exam got over.

The health authorities have asked all parents who stayed back during examination hours on the premises of the school have been directed to be alert and self-monitor for symptoms.

If any persons develop symptoms they should immediately inform the local public health centre or call at 1077, the authorities have informed.
