In an attempt to please Indian-Americans before the upcoming presidential elections, reigning United States president Donald Trump has revealed that his family is in love with India. The president also added that India is the best friend of the United States forever.
“I know India and I understood those young people (Donald Trump Jr and Ivanka) that you mentioned. They’re very good young people. And I know their relationship to India is very good and so is mine,” said Donald Trump during a media briefing at the White House.
Donald Trump had reached out to the Indian-American community, particularly in the battleground states of Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida during the 2016 presidential run, and it has fetched him positive results. Donald Trump apparently believes that a similar move this year could make the Indian-American community vote for him in the upcoming election too.
Interestingly, Ivanka was the first member of the Trump family to make a trip to India after Donald Trump was enthroned to power in 2016. In 2017, Ivanka led a high-powered US delegation to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in India, and during the trip, she several times lauded India and its people for their hospitality.
Kimberley Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr’s girlfriend had also wished the citizens of India during the last Independence Day.
“Congratulations to India who is celebrating their 74th Independence Day and to all those Indian-Americans who now call the USA home. The bond between our countries is stronger than it has ever been as we share a deep appreciation for family, peace, and prosperity,” tweeted Kimberly.
