Travancore Heritage Tourism Project initiated

The initial activities of the Travancore Heritage Tourism Project implemented by the State Government at a cost of Rs.100 crore to preserve the unique cultural heritage and uniqueness of Travancore is under way. The aim of the project is to preserve the antiquity of various palaces, palaces and temples. The revitalisng project for tourism development in the district is being implemented in four phases.

In the first phase, the premises of Shri Padmanabha Swamy Temple, East Fort and 19 magnificent buildings from MG Road to Vellayambalam will be beautified with state-of-the-art lighting systems. Then 21 building complexes from East Fort to Inchakal will be protected and decorated with decorative lights. These activities are progressing rapidly. In the second phase, the renovation of historical monuments in Thiruvananthapuram district would be being implemented. Attingal Palace, Anandavilasam, Rangavilasam and Sundaravilasam Palaces will be protected and lighting systems will be installed.

As part of the project, the Secretariat building will be made attractive by laser projection and the political history of Kerala will be digitally displayed in the Secretariat building. Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran said that the capital city will also become a night tourism hub as all the proud buildings of Thiruvananthapuram will be illuminated with state-of-the-art electric lights.

The Kilimanoor Palace, the birthplace of world famous artist Rajaravivarma, will also be renovated as part of the project. The Travancore Heritage Tourism Project aims to preserve the historic monuments of Travancore to attract international tourists. The project was designed by Abha Narayanan Lamba Associates, a well-known conservationist of historical monuments in various parts of the country. The heritage tourism project stretches from the historic Padmanabhapuram Palace to the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple.
