The former chairman of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Manik Bhattacharya is set to be produced before a court today
Kolkotta: The former chairman of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Manik Bhattacharya was arrested on Tuesday after being questioned overnight by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the School Service Commission scam. He is set to be produced before a court today, according to news agency ANI.
Bhattacharya was first summoned by the ED for questioning soon after former minister Partha Chatterjee’s arrest in the probe into illegal recruitment of teachers. A long-time TMC member, Bhattacharya was ordered to step down as the chief of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education by the High Court due to his alleged role in the scam.
Since July, the ED has sought to question Bhattacharya over several documents and CDs recovered from a recent search of his house.
