										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released a document mentioning the deleted portions from the syllabus and topics on democratic rights, gender, religion and caste, food security etc. are the chapters that are slashed. Students who appear for exams in 2021 will not be required to study these topics. The removal of lessons on democracy and rights in India has drawn attention on social media.</p>
<p>West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticised CBSE for dropping essential topics on partition, secularism and citizenship. She appealed to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry not to curtail important lessons at any cost.</p>

<p>The central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reduced the syllabus by 30 percent for classes 9 to 12. The revision was made to reduce the academic pressure on students during this covid crisis.</p>
<p>Among the topics, CBSE has removed some key chapters like federation, citizenship and secularism from its political science syllabus. Meanwhile, from class 12 business studies book, a chapter on demonetisation was deleted. Lessons on democratic rights, gender, religion and caste, food security in India are some of the chapters that will be omitted. The ministry announced the updated syllabus on Tuesday.</p>
