Prithviraj Sukumaran’s new movie Cold Case has started rolling on October 31 in Thiruvananthapuram. The film is being directed by Tanu Balak, and it is expected to be a high voltage crime thriller. The film is scripted by Srinath V Nath.

Prithviraj Sukumaran who has recovered from coronavirus infection is expected to join the shooting of the film next week. The makers of the film have already roped in Aditi Balan to play the role of the female lead in this movie.

Tanu Balak recently revealed that Prithviraj Sukumaran is playing the role of a police officer in this movie. According to the director, Cold Case is a movie that is inspired from real-life incidents that had happened in Thiruvananthapuram.

The director also added that major portions of this film will be shot in indoor locations, as there are only a very few scenes that demand crowd. Cold Case is bankrolled by Anto Joseph, Jomon T John, and Shameer Mohammed.

Cold Case is Prithviraj’s second movie to start rolling after the relaxation of lockdown measures.

The actor had recently worked in the movie ‘Jana Gana Mana’ which is being directed by Dijo Jose Antony. It was during the shooting of this movie that Prithviraj tested positive for coronavirus.

Even though he has recovered from the infection, Prithviraj is continuing in quarantine as an extra precautionary measure.

A few days back, Mollywood superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran had tested positive for coronavirus while he was shooting for the movie ‘Jana Gana Mana’. And now, after one week, the actor has confirmed that he is free from the infection.

Even though tested negative for coronavirus, the actor revealed that he will be in quarantine for another seven days.

“Tested negative on the Antigen test today. Will still be continuing to isolate for one more week to be doubly sure. Once again, thanks to everyone who reached out and expressed care and concern,” wrote Prithviraj on his Facebook page.

The actor also shared the image of the test result on his Facebook page.

Apart from Prithviraj, Dijo Jose Antony, director of Jana Gana Mana, was also tested positive for coronavirus. As both of them were tested positive, the entire crew of the movie went into self-isolation.

Prithviraj is currently awaiting the release of his new movie ‘Aadu Jeevitham’. The film, directed by Blessy, is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Benyamin. Prithviraj will be seen playing the role of Najeeb, an immigrant worker in Saudi Arabia, in Aadu Jeevitham.

Ayyappanum Koshiyum was one of the biggest Mollywood blockbusters in 2020, and this mass masala entertainer featured Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon in the lead role. Shot from the exotic locales of Attappadi, the film narrated the story of a rich young man who lock horns with a police sub inspector. The movie was loaded with umpteen numbers of mass sequences, and upon release, critics called this movie a real ‘Clash of the Titans’.

Now, a Tamil remake of the movie is in its pre-production stage, and it will be produced by Kathiresan in the banner of Five Star Creations. Earlier, it has been reported that Sarathkumar and Sasikumar will be playing the lead roles in this film. But now, it has been confirmed that Karthi and Parthiban will play the roles of Prithviraj and Biju Menon respectively.

The shooting of this movie is expected to begin by the end of this year. A final decision on the start of the shooting will be made only after government decides to completely ease lockdown restrictions. An official announcement regarding the complete cast and crew of the movie will be finalised in the coming days.

As a Tamil remake is currently in its making stage, audiences are very eager to know whether this upcoming flick will do justice to the original. In the film, Prithviraj has played the role of Koshy, an alcoholic young man whose ego compels him to go against a sincere police officer.

Prithviraj has immortalised this role with his mesmerizing screen presence, and unique mannersisms, and his on-screen moments with Biju Menon was a treat to watch. Karthi, as we all know, is a brilliant performer, and he has that knack to portray characters similar to that of Koshy with perfection on screen.

The real hero in Ayyappanum Koshiyum was Biju Menon. His portrayal of Ayyappan Nair, a police officer with dual face was well-received by critics, and his transformation scenes were welcomed with applause by audiences in theaters.

In the first half of the movie, Biju Menon’s character has a subtle nature, but post the transformation, it became loud, and Ayyappan Nair starts dominating Koshy in all the proceedings. Considering the track record of Parthiban, we cannot imagine any other stars in Kollywood to portray such a challenging role on screen.

Kaduvakkunnel Karuvachan creates issues

Interestingly, the characters in both movies have the same names, and the makers of ‘Kaduva’ alleged that the director of SG 250 has stolen the script and the premise from their movie. However, Renji Panicker has recently claimed that the character of Kaduvakkunnel Karuvachan was originally developed by him long back in 2001 for the movie ‘Vyaagram’. However, this movie which was planned with Mohanlal in the lead role failed to take off.

As Prithviraj shared the second look poster of ‘Kaduva’ on his Facebook page, a section of social media users started lashing out at the actor stating that they wish to see Suresh Gopi in this firebrand role. These social media users also claimed that Prithviraj Sukumaran is not grown enough to pull off mass roles with ease on screen.

Mollywood awaits Shaji Kailas’ comeback

‘Kaduva’ marks the comeback of Shaji Kailas in Mollywood after a long hiatus of seven years. It was in 2013 that ‘Ginger’, Shaji Kailas’ previous Malayalam movie hit the theaters. Even though the film was released with a decent hype, it literally bombed at the box-office.

Later, Mollywood was dominated by a swarm of realistic movies, and Shaji Kailas failed to fetch projects that meet his taste. Now, the mass movie maker is planning to make a strong comeback through ‘Kaduva’, which is expected to be an in and out commercial entertainer.

On the other hand, Prithviraj Sukumaran has recently wrapped up the shooting of his upcoming movie ‘Aadujeevitham’ which is being directed by Blessy. The film is basically a survival drama, and it is based on Benyamin’s novel of the same name.
