During the talk, Sibi revealed that Devadoothan was originally planned in 1983 as his debut movie with Nasaruddeen Shah and Madhavi in the lead roles. However, the film failed to take off, and Sibi made his debut through Mutharamkunnu PO.

After establishing himself as a bankable filmmaker in Mollywood, the director once again revived this project in the late 1990s and planned the film with Kollywood romantic hero Madhavan. As the project did not work out due to Madhavan’s commitments, Sibi Malayil finalized Mollywood superstar Mohanlal to play the lead role in this film.

Sibi Malayil revealed that the film was made with a top technical team, and they had made sure that this romantic fantasy was being made with an uncompromising cinematic language. Despite all these efforts, the film bombed at the box-office, and it literally shattered the filmmaker.

“Mohanlal at that time had emerged as a mass hero through movies like Narasimham and Aaram Thampuran. Audiences who entered the movie halls to see Devadoothan might have expected Mohanlal in an extreme mass avatar, and that commercial package was lacking there. Pranav Mohanlal awaits release of Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham

Pranav Mohanlal who debuted with Jeethu Joseph’s movie Aadhi is currently awaiting the release of his new movie ‘Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham’, directed by national-award-winning director Priyadarshan. The film will have Mohanlal playing the lead role, while Pranav will appear in an extended cameo.

‘Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham’ was originally scheduled to have its theatrical release on March 27. However, the coronavirus outbreak turned things upside down, and the makers were compelled to indefinitely postpone the release of this movie.

Apart from Mohanlal and Pranav Mohanlal, the film also stars Manju Warrier, Prabhu Ganesan, Suneil Shetty, Arjun Sarja, and Kalyani Priyadarshan in other prominent roles. The film is bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

During the time of the announcement, Shrikumar had claimed that this movie will be made with a mammoth budget, and it will feature Mohanlal playing the role of Bhiman, an iconic character from Mahabharatha. However, due to creative differences with writer MT Vasudevan Nair, the project was shelved, and since then, both Mohanlal and Shrikumar have remained tight-lipped about this flick.

Mohanlal preparing for Randamoozham?

Recently, several pictures that showed Mohanlal working out in the gymnasium had gone viral on online spaces. The new images that went viral on the internet have now made many believe that Randamoozham is getting revived, and the actor is apparently toning his body shape for this project.

However, neither Mohanlal nor Shrikumar has shared any official statement regarding the revival of this magnum opus project.

Mohanlal’s Drishyam 2 raises expectations

According to close sources to the actor, Mohanlal will join the shooting sets of Drishyam 2 on August 17. The film is a sequel to Mohanlal’s 2013 blockbuster Drishyam, and this sequel will narrate the life of George kitty and his family, post the murder coverup.

Jeethu Joseph who directed the prequel will be helming this movie too. The director recently revealed that Drishyam 2 will be a family drama with some thrill elements.

Malayalam filmmaker Major Ravi is well known for helming army-based movies. Some of his most popular films include Keerthichakra, Kurukshetra and Mission 90 Days. The director is now planning to make a film which will focus on the Indo-Chinese conflict. Tentatively titled as ‘Bridge of Galwan’, the film will be primarily centred around the construction of the strategic bridge on Galwan valley that was a key trigger for the issues between the two countries.

Grapevine is that Mohanlal would once again join with the director for this war story. Recently, the director revealed the he plans to team up with the actor yet again,while interacting with his followers through Facebook live. Although he hasn’t revealed more details about it.

Major Ravi’s announcement comes at a time when the tensions between India and China have escalated severely. Earlier this month, the Indian army and China’s People’s Liberation Army had an ugly face-off which resulted in the martyrdom of many soldiers.

“The film will rope in stars from all states and it will have a connection with the entire nation.The film will depict India-China clashes in the past and how each government handled the situation.In those times the Indian soldiers served the nation on the border without proper arms and ammunition. The pre-production work of the film is going on,” said Major Ravi.

The army-officer turned film-maker is hoping to start the production by January 2021,depending on the pandemic situation and weather in the Ladakh region.

The makers of Suresh’s Gopi’s upcoming film, Kaaval went the extra mile to celebrate the actor’s 61’st birthday on June 26, as they released a teaser of the film on social media platforms and YouTube. The teaser is a perfect treat for his fans.

The teaser sees Suresh Gopi with a bruise in his eye, as he takes out his gun from behind and yes, there is a punchline which is always the actor’s trademark. Actor Mohanlal, too, took to his twitter handle and shared the teaser of Kaaval and wished Gopi on his birthday.

Starring Suresh Gopi and Renji Panicker in the leading roles, Kaaval is bankrolled by Joby George, under the banner of Goodwill Entertainments. As per reports, the film also stars Zaya David, Muthumani, IM Vijayan, Sujith Sankar, Alencier and Kannan Rajan P Dev in prominent roles.

Nithin’s debut movie, Kasaba with Mammootty courted a massive controversy for being blatantly misogynistic. Suresh Gopi was last seen in director Anoop Sathyan’s debut movie Varane Avashyamund. The film gave the veteran actor a memorable role after a long gap.
