After the success of movies like Grandmaster and Madambi, Mohanlal and B Unnikrishnan are again joining hands for a new movie which is expected to be a high-voltage mass masala entertainer. Yesterday, Unnikrishnan and writer Udayakrishna met Mohanlal at the shooting sets of Drishyam, and the trio finalized the project.

Unnikrishnan revealed that this movie will be shot on a grand scale with a lavish budget.

“This movie will have equal importance to comedy, action, and emotions. After Hello, this movie will give Mohanlal the chance to perform pure comedy and I believe, this will turn out to be a real treat to the audiences. The shooting of this movie will commence in November. More details about this film will be unveiled in the coming days,” said Unnikrishnan.

This is for the second time that Unnikrishnan is directing a movie penned by others. Most of the films directed by Unnikrishnan was penned by himself, and the only exception is ‘I Love Me’ which was written by Sethu.

Mohanlal will join the shooting sets of the film soon after completing Drishyam 2, which is being directed by Jeethu Joseph.

On the other hand, Udayakrishna is also busy penning the script for the movie Pulimurugan 2. Even though the scripting is in its earlier stages, recent developments indicate that Mohanlal will once again hunt predator tigers on screen.

Mohanlal’s special wish to territorial army members has gone viral on online space, and his post on Facebook has already racked up more than 63,000 likes.

It was around a decade back that Mohanlal was conferred with the honorary title of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army, and thus he became the only Indian actor in the country to get such a prestigious title from the Indian Army.

Mohanlal is currently busy with the filming of his upcoming movie ‘Drishyam 2’ which is being directed by Jeethu Joseph. The film is a sequel to the 2013 blockbuster Drishyam, and the actor will once again enact the role of Georgekutty, a common man who got involved in a murder coverup.

Apart from Mohanlal, this movie also stars Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Saikumar, Siddique, and Murali Gopy in other prominent roles. Drishyam 2 is being bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor in the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Drishyam 2: The Resumption will feature Mohanlal playing the role of Georgekutty, a middle-class family man who gets involved in a murder coverup. The prequel of this movie ended with a thrilling twist, where Mohanlal’s character buried the corpse of the deceased in the foundation of the new police station. It is still unclear whether Jeethu Joseph will make police officers dig the burial ground to recover Varun’s corpse.

Meena will be playing the role of the lady lead in this upcoming movie. The supporting star cast includes Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Siddique, and Asha Sharath.

According to reports, Mohanlal will join the shooting of the movie on September 26. The actor has recently undergone Ayurvedic treatment, and he has apparently toned his body in such a way that Georgekutty’s role can be portrayed with perfection on screen after eight years.

According to close sources to the actor, Mohanlal will join the shooting sets of Drishyam 2 on August 17. The film is a sequel to Mohanlal’s 2013 blockbuster Drishyam, and this sequel will narrate the life of George kitty and his family, post the murder coverup.

Jeethu Joseph who directed the prequel will be helming this movie too. The director recently revealed that Drishyam 2 will be a family drama with some thrill elements.

Drishyam 2: Resumption, starring Mohanlal, lands in trouble with Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA). The rumours going around is that the cast and crew are adamant in starting the shoot of the film as soon as possible.

However, director of the movie Jeethu Joseph said that he plans to shoot the movie only after thoroughly analysing the situation. “We are hoping that we would be able to start the shoot by mid-August if the conditions are favourable.” According to the director, the tentative date to start the shoot is August 17.

KFPA had stated that the shooting of the films cannot start unless the actors take a pay cut. Jeethu said that the cast and crew had reached a consensus that they will take remuneration cuts for the sake of cinema.

“When we decided upon the sequel, we agreed that the main cast and crew will take a pay cut. This is not just about us. There are many employees whose livelihood is cinema, like junior artists, technicians, managers, skilled and unskilled workers. There is another whole spectrum of people in this industry we need to consider,” Jeethu said.

Producer of the film Antony Perumbavoor will be discussing the issue with KFPA to find an amicable solution. “We are not looking for trouble. The shoot of the movie will be properly planned and will begin the shooting after doing solid discussions with film bodies.” the director said.

Owing to COVID-19 pandemic, the shoot of several films had to be suspended temporarily. But with time, the state government has granted permission to resume with the indoor shooting of pending films. The director said that FEFKA director’s union had a serious discussion on this.

“We discussed the need for a specific set of guidelines, ensuring necessities such as sanitisers, masks and social distancing policies,” he said.

As per industry expert Sreedhar Pillai, in his tweet, he said that according to Mohanlal there is nothing wrong in starting shoot of new films and the team of his upcoming project are planning to begin the shoot by mid-August.
