The stock market hit a new high on December 14. But there was a strong fluctuation during the trade. Similarly, Nifty closed 44 points higher at 13,558 points. The Sensex closed 154 points higher at 46,253.

Even though the Nifty had surged to 11,597 points in the morning it was unable to break the resistance at 11,600 points. From there, it fell to 13,472 points but rose again to 11,550 points.

Foreign investors continue to invest in the Indian market. At the same time, the continuing spread of COVID-19 in the United States and European countries, the possibility of implementing Brexit without an agreement with the European Union, and the continuing unresolved farmers’ demonstration are all factors that are adversely affecting the stock market.

Shares of metal and Public Sector banks are still high. ONGC was the biggest gainer among Nifty stocks. ONGC’s rise is mainly due to higher crude oil prices.

The Nifty Metal Index was up 1.38 per cent and the Nifty PSU Bank Index was up 1.77 per cent. At the same time, auto stocks fell.

The majority of Nifty stocks traded higher. Out of the 50 stocks in the Nifty, 31 stocks gained while 19 stocks lost. ONGC, L&T, Cipla, Coal India and IOC are the top five gainers in the Nifty closes above 13,550. ONGC, L&T, Cipla and Coal India gained over 4 per cent each.

The stock market fell for the second day in a row. On September 9, the Nifty fell below 11,200 points at one point. Although the Nifty climbed back 100 points from its lowest level, the market continues to be weak.

The Sensex ended 171 points lower at 38,194 points. Similarly, Nifty declined by 39 points to close at 11,278 points. The Nifty was down by 11,185 points during the day.

The Indian stock market started with a loss following the fall in the US stock market on September 8. At no point in the trade did the indices returned a profit.

Whiles 25 shares in Nifty were up 24 shares were down. There was no change in the share price. Tata Steel, Zee Limited, Cipla, Reliance Industries and Grasim Industries were the top five gainers in the Nifty. Tata Steel rose 3.57 per cent. Pharma and metal stocks were the main gainers of the day. The decline was visible in other areas. Bank stocks fell sharply.

SBI, GAIL, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank and IOC were the biggest losers in the Nifty. SBI fell 4.90 per cent. Shares of GAIL, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank and IOC lost more than 2 per cent each.

The Nifty Bank Index lost 2.1 per cent. The market is mainly looking at a petition before the Supreme Court seeking a waiver of interest during the moratorium period. Concerns over whether the verdict in the case would be adverse led to a fall in bank shares.

The Nifty Pharma Index gained 1.9 per cent. Shares of Biocon, Cipla, Arbindo Pharma, Lupine and Torrent Pharma gained more than 2 per cent each.

The stock market fell sharply after a six-day rally on August 31. The Sensex was down 839.02 points and the Nifty was down 260.10 points. The Nifty closed below 11,400 points. The Sensex closed at 38628.29 points.

Of the 48 stocks in the Nifty, only two gained. Sun Pharma, Zee Limited, SBI, Cipla and Sree Cements were the top five losers in the Nifty. Sun Pharma fell 7.42 per cent.

The market started from where it left off last week. Although the Nifty touched a low of 11,800 in the morning, the negative news of another clash on the Indo-China border sent the market down. The Nifty fell below 11,400 points. Strong selling pressure was seen in various stocks, including banking.

In the meantime, there are indications that the conflict is escalating, and India is watching cautiously. It is in this context that the stock market witnessed a sharp decline.

The Nifty is down over 400 points. Shares of pharma and banking stocks were under strong selling pressure. The Nifty Pharma index was down 4.67 per cent. The Bank Nifty index, which had gained more than four per cent on Friday, fell 3.14 per cent on August 31. Leading banks like SBI, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank fell more than 5 per cent.

Indian pharma major Cipla has launched its generic version of antiviral drug remdesivir, Cipremi, at 4000 rupees ( $53.34) per 100 mg vial. Thus the Indian version of remdesivir became the lowest-priced version of the COVID-19 treatment available so far globally.

Cipla is planning to supply over 80,000 vials within the first month. To ensure equitable distribution, the drug will be available through government and hospital channels.

Cipremi has been approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for restricted emergency use in the country as part of the accelerated approval process considering the urgent and unmet medical need.

Pharmaceutical major Mylan NV has also said that its generic version of remdesivir will be priced at Rs 4,800 per 100 mg vial.

Hyderabad-based drug firm Hetero has said it has fixed a maximum retail price of Rs 5,400 per vial for the drug.

Remdesivir is the only United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA)-approved Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) treatment for adult and pediatric patients hospitalised with suspected or laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection.

In May, domestic pharma firms Hetero, Cipla and Jubilant Life Sciences entered into non-exclusive licensing agreements with drug major Gilead Sciences Inc for manufacturing and distribution of remdesivir.

The launch of the Indian version of the generic drug came at a time when US government officials, on June 29, said that they bought more than 500,000 treatment courses of antiviral drug remdesivir, for next three months and effectively excluding other countries from accessing the drug.
