Muscat: A severe heatwave continues to sweep across Oman, with temperatures soaring to extreme levels in several regions. According to the latest data from the Civil Aviation Authority’s Meteorological Department, Sohar recorded the highest temperature in the last 24 hours, reaching a blistering 47.1°C.
Close behind were Shinas at 46.0°C and Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan at 45.7°C, as the mercury surged across both coastal and inland areas.
Other notable high temperatures include:
- Izki: 44.7°C
- Al Awabi: 44.4°C
- Baushar: 43.9°C
- Nizwa and Sur: 43.8°C
- Ibra and Samail: 43.7°C
- Muscat Airport: 43.1°C
The widespread rise in temperatures underscores the intensity of the current heatwave, affecting cities across Oman’s diverse geography.
Authorities continue to urge residents to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak hours, and keeping vulnerable individuals safe.
