Sohar Port enhances its role as Oman’s key logistics hub with launch of Marasi digital system

MUSCAT : The system was launched under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shammakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Transport, is poised to revolutionize maritime operations and strengthen Oman’s position as a global logistics hub.

The Marasi system, already in use across 50 leading global ports, introduces cutting-edge digital solutions to streamline maritime operations, foster seamless integration among stakeholders, and optimize data flow. Its user-friendly interface enables real-time communication between the port and its partners, enhancing efficiency across the board.

Key features include a specialized application for marine guides, allowing secure electronic access to and recording maritime data, significantly reducing manual processes. The system offers immediate benefits for shipping agents such as automated operational notifications, electronic submission of ship environmental index data, and instant access to invoices—simplifying operations and boosting accuracy.
Emil Hochsteden, CEO of Sohar Port emphasises that it aligns with Oman Vision 2040, leveraging digital solutions to drive economic diversification, global competitiveness, and sustainable growth.

The system integrates advanced functionalities like digital signatures for maritime certificates, improved accident reporting, and a feedback mechanism to ensure ongoing refinement. Transparency is also enhanced with open access to ship schedules and operational updates without requiring a login.
