Singapore’s Embassy holds ceremony in Muscat

Muscat: The embassy of the Republic of Singapore today hosted a ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Singapore.

During the ceremony, official speeches were delivered to express mutual appreciation for the bilateral relations between the two countries. Moreover, a postal stamp was inaugurated to signify the depth of relations between Oman and Singapore.Further, two memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed.
The first MoU was signed between Oman Broadband Company and Singapore’s ST Engineering Urban Solutions (STEURS). The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in developing smart infrastructure and technological innovations in both countries.
The second MoU was signed between Oman Deep Ocean LLC and INNEOVA Life Pte Ltd. It aims to develop and establish distribution management systems for Oman’s Deep Ocean Water (DOW) products to global markets.

The ceremony was attended by Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Maj Gen. Idris Abdulrahman Al Kindi, Secretary General of the National Security Council, and Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs. It was also attended from the Singaporean side by K. Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister of Law, and Dr. Mohamed Maliki Osman, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Syed Noureddin Bin Syed Hassim, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Singapore in Muscat and several officials and diplomats from both sides.The diplomatic relations between Oman and Singapore were established in 1985. These relations are considered a model of fruitful cooperation in various fields, including politics, economy and culture.
