Sharjah parents can decide mode of education

Parents of students at the private schools in Sharjah can decide on the mode of education when the schools reopen on Sunday, according to media reports.

The Sharjah Private Education Authority had on December 30 announced that all private schools and educational institutions are ready to receive students on January 3. An official at the SPEA confirmed that the authority is keen to grant parents the freedom to choose the mode of education. They can choose direct, hybrid or remote education system according to their response to the questionnaire distributed to them recently.

The authority instructed 117 private schools affiliated to it to notify the parents about choosing the education system through SMS or emails. The education process will continue as part of the SPEA’s plan for the second semester of the current academic year.

She added that schools should comply with the instructions and check on the progress of the study and safety of students.

The SPEA will resume its inspection campaigns at schools in cooperation with other authorities in the emirate to ensure compliance with the guidelines of Covid-19 and to check on the progress of the education.

The authority also instructed the schools to conduct periodical RT-PCR tests on students. Students who travelled abroad need to quarantine for 15 days before attending schools. Parents must be instructed not to bring students to schools in case of COVID-19 symptoms or if they were in contact with Covid-19 patients.

Director of the SPEA said the authority had distributed a questionnaire that gives parents the freedom to choose the appropriate educational system for their children.
