Sharjah Motorists Can Now Avail Up to 35% Discount on Traffic Fines

Dubai : If you’ve received a traffic fine in Sharjah, you may be eligible for a significant discount, especially if you settle it early. A new initiative approved by the Sharjah Executive Council allows motorists to receive up to 35% off on traffic fines, depending on how soon the payment is made.

The decision, aimed at encouraging timely payments and easing financial pressure on residents, was approved during the Council’s weekly meeting chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Council.

Discount Structure: Two-Tier System

Under the new framework, motorists can benefit from the following discounts:

  • 35% discount if the fine is paid within 60 days of the traffic violation
  • 25% discount if the fine is paid within one year, but after 60 days

In addition, the 35% discount also applies to:

  • Vehicle impoundment durations
  • Impoundment-related fees
  • Late payment penalties

Note: These discounts do not apply to serious traffic violations as defined by UAE traffic law.

How to Pay Sharjah Traffic Fines Online

You don’t need to visit a police station or service center. Fines can be conveniently paid online via the Ministry of Interior (MOI UAE) app, available for iOS and Android devices.

Steps to Pay via the MOI App:

  1. Download the MOI UAE app from your app store
  2. Log in using your UAE Pass account for secure access
  3. Tap on ‘Traffic Fine Payment’ from the home screen
  4. Search for your fines using one of the following:
    • Traffic Code (TC) number
    • Driving licence number
    • Vehicle plate number
    • Emirates ID number
  5. View your listed fines, including any applicable discounts
  6. Select the fine you wish to pay
  7. Complete the payment using a valid credit or debit card
  8. Receive a digital receipt confirming your transaction

This new initiative reflects Sharjah’s commitment to promoting responsible driving, timely compliance, and offering relief to residents. Early payment not only ensures significant savings but also helps avoid further penalties.
