The Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival will run from May 19 to 29 at the Expo Centre Sharjah. The 11-day event, organised by Sharjah Book Authority, will run under the theme “For Your Imagination”. Many prominent authors will take part in a series of discussions, some in person and some online.

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the 12th edition of the festival on May 19 at the Expo Centre.

More than 500 activities are planned, including a series of theatrical shows and workshops, cookery sessions and a literary competition apart from the thousands of books on display; 27 authors from 15 countries will be taking part, alongside 172 publishers.

For the first time in its 12-year history, the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) will be held beyond the emirate. A number of talks and meet-and-greet sessions with famous authors will be held in Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and in the Sharjah cities of Kalba and Dibba Al Hisn.

The festival is open from 4pm to 10pm daily except Saturdays when it will open from 10am to 8pm. Strict Covid-19 safety measures including mandatory face masks are in place.
