Shakuntala Devi trailer review: An in and out Vidya Balan show

Nirmal Yesoda

After days of anxious wait, the makers of Shakuntala Devi have released the trailer of this film on Wednesday. As expected, the trailer solely belonged to Vidya Balan who ruled the screen with her unique mannerisms and impeccable screen presence.

Shakuntala Devi movie: Film about human-computer

The trailer has a length of 2 minutes and 47 seconds, and it begins with a scene where Vidya Balan can be seen walking to a dais amid huge applause from everywhere. Later, the trailer gives a sneak peek of Shakuntala Devi’s childhood and the way in which she became a human-computer by solving complex mathematical problems in a matter of seconds. In the final moments of the trailer, the makers also show the emotional side of Shakuntala Devi.

The trailer of Shakuntala Devi clearly indicates that the film will be an in and out Vidya Balan show. This project, in all probabilities, will be a feel-good movie, and the makers have apparently added all necessary elements to meet the tastes of family audiences.

Shakunatala Devi: Cast and Crew

Shakuntala Devi is directed by Anu Menon, who has previously filmed acclaimed films like London Paris New York, and Waiting. Apart from Vidya Balan, the film also stars Jisshu Sengupta, Sanya Malhotra and Amit Sadh in other prominent roles. The film is bankrolled by Sony Pictures India.

Earlier, the makers had decided to conduct a grand theatrical release for this movie, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, all their plans turned upside down, and they finally decided to release the movie in OTT platforms. After negotiations, the online streaming right of the movie was grabbed by Amazon Prime, and they will premiere Shakuntala Devi on July 31, 2020.
