MUSCAT : Chaired by His Highness, the meeting was attended by the Supervisory Committee members, who reviewed the programme’s progress and initiatives aimed at stimulating and developing the startup sector. The session highlighted the programme’s efforts in enhancing startup capabilities, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship, and leveraging innovative solutions to accelerate growth. The committee also examined technical opportunities that support startups in achieving sustainability and attracting talent.
Key topics included the incentives and facilities offered to technology-driven Omani startups, the advancement of startup accelerators, and the operational framework of the program’s system. The meeting also reviewed the Future Pioneers camps held during the summer in coordination with the Ministry of Education, which engaged over 500 students across 11 governorates. Additionally, the implementation of startup idea camps in collaboration with universities and colleges was discussed.
The Promising Omani Startups Programme, overseen by the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, works in partnership with various ministries and organizations, including the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Economy, and the Omani Information and Communications Technology Group.
The program aims to foster a dynamic economy by providing a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and startups, and enhancing their regional and international presence. It focuses on three main areas: capacity building, financing and investment, and creating a supportive legislative environment.
