Saudi Arabia and AWS Launch $5B+ AI Zone to Drive Tech Innovation and Job Creation

Saudi Arabia : Saudi Arabia has announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to establish a groundbreaking “AI Zone” in the Kingdom, backed by an investment exceeding $5 billion. This initiative, in collaboration with the newly formed AI company HUMAIN, aims to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence across various sectors and foster economic diversification in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
The AI Zone will feature advanced AWS infrastructure, including UltraCluster networks, and services such as Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock, and Amazon Q. These tools will empower businesses and government entities to develop and deploy generative AI applications with enhanced security and efficiency.
A significant aspect of this collaboration is the commitment to human capital development. AWS plans to train 100,000 Saudi citizens, including 10,000 women, in cloud computing and generative AI technologies through programs like the Amazon Academy.
Additionally, HUMAIN will focus on developing Arabic Large Language Models (LLMs) to cater to the region’s linguistic and cultural needs. The partnership also aims to invigorate the startup ecosystem by providing entrepreneurs with access to AWS’s extensive cloud technology tools and programs.

This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to becoming a global hub for AI innovation and reflects a broader strategy to diversify its economy beyond oil revenues.
