Sanjay Dutt granted UAE Golden Visa

Our Correspondent

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt announced on Twitter that he has been granted the UAE Golden Visa.

“Honoured to have received a golden visa for the UAE in the presence of Major General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of @GDRFADUBAI,” he tweeted.

He also thanked FlyDubai’s Hamad Obaidalla for his support.

Sanjay Dutt is the first Indian mainstream actor to have received the UAE golden visa.

In 2019, the UAE government had introduced a new system for long-term residence visas, enabling foreigners to live, work and study in the UAE without the need for a national sponsor. These Golden Visas are issued for 5 or 10 years and will be renewed automatically.

Dutt falls under the category of artists eligible for the visa. Creative individuals in the field of culture and art who can be awarded the golden visa have to be accredited by Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.

Other eligible categories include doctors, engineers, inventors, researchers/scientists, PhD degree holders and investors.
