Royal Academy of Management launches program to enhance national competencies

Muscat :This initiative is implemented in a strategic partnership with the Diwan of Royal Court and the Environment Authority, alongside the collaboration of Earthwatch, a renowned international organisation.
The program aims to cultivate a new generation of researchers and environmental experts equipped to tackle both current and future environmental challenges, establishing environmental sustainability as a cornerstone of national development.

he program is designed to empower Omani talent by fostering the development of innovative environmental research that directly supports the creation and implementation of sustainable policies. Additionally, it targets to enhance environmental awareness and cultivate a robust scientific community capable of contributing to evidence-based decision-making. This initiative underscores the Royal Academy of Management’s unwavering dedication to nurturing Omani human capital—a cornerstone of the nation’s strategic vision for achieving sustainable development and enhancing readiness to address future environmental challenges.

Azhar Al Zadjali, the Program Supervisor emphasised the importance of the initiative, stating: “The launch of this program marks a transformative milestone in positioning environmental sustainability as a cornerstone of Oman’s national priorities. It reflects the Royal Academy of Management’s unwavering dedication to developing human capital, a foundational pillar for driving strategic transformation and achieving comprehensive, sustainable development. Through this initiative, we aspire to strengthen research capabilities, foster advanced leadership skills, and empower participants to design innovative, science-based solutions that address pressing environmental challenges while proactively preparing for future complexities with agility and resilience.”

The program focuses on key areas such as natural resource management, climate change mitigation, and biodiversity conservation. It employs a holistic methodology that blends theoretical and practical training, guided by local and international experts, ensuring the delivery of globally benchmarked training content.

Structured into multiple phases, the program commenced in December 2024 with the formation of research groups aligned with national priorities. This will be followed by the development of research plans and applied projects in January 2025. The implementation of field research projects will span until September 2026, culminating in March 2027 with a comprehensive evaluation of outcomes and the publication of a final report.
