Roshni Nadar Malhotra to head HCL Tech

Roshni Nadar Malhotra is now the chairperson of HCL Technologies, the Noida-based Information Technology company said on July 17. The 38-year-old succeeds her father, Shiv Nadar. The appointment of non-executive director Roshni Nadar Malhotra to the new role takes effect immediately, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Shiv Nadar will continue to be HCL Tech’s managing director, with the designation as the chief strategy officer.

Born and raised in New Delhi, Roshni studied in Vasant Valley School, and graduated from the Northwestern University in Illinois, United States. She has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

Ms. Malhotra has been the executive director and CEO of HCL Corporation, vice-chairperson of the board of HCL Technologies, and trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation. At HCL Corporation, Ms. Malhotra has been responsible for providing strategic guidance to the organisation.

Ms. Malhotra was inducted as an additional director on the board of India’s third largest software exporter in 2013. This was four years after her appointment on the board of HCL Corp, the holding company of HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems.

Passionate about wildlife and conservation, Roshni Nadar Malhotra set up The Habitats Trust in 2018. The trust aims at protecting the country’s natural habitats and indigenous species, with the core mission of creating and conserving sustainable ecosystems.

Noida-based HCL Technologies also reported its earnings for the April-June period. The company said its net profit stood at Rs 2,931 crore in the three-month period ended June 30, marking a sequential (quarter-on-quarter) fall of 7.60 per cent.

Total revenue from operations grew 4.01 per cent to Rs 17,842 crore in the April-June period, compared to the previous quarter.
