Returned expats can start Norka Supplyco Pravasi Store

NORKA is implementing the Pravasi Store project in association with Supplyco to help returning expatriates find self-employment.

The new venture is part of the NDPRM scheme for the rehabilitation of returning expatriates. Loans up to Rs.30 lakh with 15% capital subsidy will be sanctioned through 5,832 branches of 16 leading banks.

Assistance is being extended to expatriates to start a Maveli store or a supermarket-style shop. Those who own or rent a building can apply. Those who have a building with an area of less than 700 sq feet

For those who have a building with an area of less than a foot, the Maveli store model is advised and for those who have a building with area of more than 1500 sq. m. permission is being granted to open supermarkets. The cost of the shop’s furnishing, computer and furniture should be borne by the shop opener. Priority is given to recently returned NRIs.

The sale of other goods not supplied by Supplyco will also be permitted with conditions. Expatriate stores will not be allowed close to any of Supplyco’s outlets, within 5 km in rural areas, within 4 km in the municipality and within 3 km in the corporation limits. The distance between expat stores will be 3 km.
