Celebrated Indian journalist Arnab Goswami has been arrested by the Mumbai police on November 04. Police arrested Arnab from his residence, and visuals aired on Republic TV indicate that the officers have physically intimidated the journalist.
According to reports, Arnab was arrested under section 306, which is the abetment of suicide, in connection with the death of Anvay Naik, an interior designer, and his mother Kumud Naik in 2018.
Republic TV reports state that Arnab was brutally manhandled by the police officials. Arnab Goswami, during the time of the arrest, told the media that the police officers have assaulted his teenage son as well.
Republic TV also alleged that police reached Arnab Goswami’s house without any summons. They also claimed that journalists were denied entry, as the police forcefully sealed all entry and exit points. In the meantime, the central government has condemned the attack and arrest of Arnab.
