Delhiites got a jolt at 7:00:50 PM when a medium-intensity earthquake of magnitude 4.7 struck near the capital on July 3. The epicentre of the first earthquake was 60 km southwest of Gurgaon in Haryana, according to India’s National Center for Seismology.
The earthquake struck at a depth of 35 km from the surface. Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and surrounding areas for several seconds.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Mild earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi some time ago. Hope you are all safe, take care of yourself.”
