Qatar unveils plans to promote private sector

Doha : Qatari He was speaking at the National Development Forum held in Doha. Prime Minister and
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani said that Qatar is
preparing projects that will stimulate the private sector to participate more effectively in the country’s development.
Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has shared a sign of a comprehensive change in Qatar’s development policy. Plans will be developed to provide more opportunities for the private sector in various service sectors. Discussions are underway with government agencies and ministries in this regard. The government is examining which sectors it can withdraw from and give opportunities to the private sector instead.
He said that in a small country like Qatar, only if the government, citizens and the private sector work with the same goal can we achieve results. Qatari companies must be able to compete internationally. Exports must increase. Qatar Airways and Qatar’s mobile and internet service providers, Ooredoo and Qatar Energy, are competing well internationally.
We are looking at what we can do internationally, whether it is in Qatar’s development projects or how to create opportunities for Qatari companies. The Prime Minister said. Qatar is one of the best countries in providing services, there is no flaw in that. But there are some challenges in the way the service is provided and the speed of response to it. We need to identify such weaknesses and try to find solutions for them, the Prime Minister added.
Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah said that the possibilities of testing the BOT model in the public works sector are being examined. Ashghal will award contracts worth 81 billion Qatari riyals within two years. The BOT model will be tested in this. Speaking at the forum, the Minister of Municipality stated that BOT-based projectsare being planned, including on private land.
