Oman’s Social Development Minister addresses ‘professional begging’ at media event

MUSCAT : “Many beggars have no need, but have taken it as a profession,” Her Excellency stated in response to a query during the press conference organised by the Ministry of Social Development.

The media event, attended by Her Excellency Dr. Al Najjar and His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry, provided an overview of the Ministry’s key achievements, current indicators, and future goals across several critical sectors. These included social care, services for people with disabilities, family and community development, voluntary civil work, and social responsibility initiatives.
