Oman’s Majlis Al Shura, State Council reach consensus on three draft laws including Individual Income Tax

MUSCAT : Joint committees comprising members from the State Council and the Shura Council today held a meeting to discuss articles of dispute on three draft laws referred by the Council of Ministers, namely “The Individual Income Tax”, “The Financial Law” and “The Law on Special Economic Zones and Free Zones”.

The joint panels had a final debate on 30 articles of disagreement in the draft “Individual Income Tax Law”, 21 articles in the draft “Financial Law” and 22 articles in the draft “Law on Special Economic Zones and Free Zones”. Some of the articles of dispute were in the original draft laws and some were in new articles added by the Shura Council.
At the end of the debate, the joint committees reached consensus on all the articles of dispute. They will submit their report for discussion during a joint session scheduled to be held later by the State Council and the Shura Council.
