Muscat : According to preliminary data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), Muscat International Airport handled approximately 2,280,280 passengers during the first two months of 2025, witnessing a 7.5 percent decrease from the 2,463,856 passengers recorded in the same period last year. The airport also saw an 11 percent drop in total flight movements, with 15,133 flights compared to 16,996 in 2024.
In contrast, Salalah Airport experienced a 5.4 percent increase in passenger traffic, serving 244,590 passengers by the end of February 2025, up from 232,077 in 2024. However, the number of flights at the airport dropped by 8.1 percent, totalling 1,444 flights compared to 1,572 during the same period last year.
Sohar Airport saw a sharp decline, with flights plummeting by 74.5 percent to just 28, compared to 110 flights last year. Passenger traffic also fell dramatically by 98 percent, with only 226 travellers recorded, down from 11,410 in February 2024.
At Duqm Airport, the number of flights dropped by 3.8 percent, from 104 to 100, while passenger numbers declined by 3.3 percent to 10,150, compared to 10,492 in the previous year.
Regarding the most active nationalities at Muscat International Airport in February 2025, Indian nationals topped the list with 146,418 passengers (75,510 arriving and 70,908 departing). Omani nationals followed closely with 145,060 passengers (82,244 arriving and 62,816 departing), while Pakistani nationals ranked third with 47,781 passengers (24,876 arriving and 22,905 departing).
