MUSCAT: Oman has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement, and the release of detainees, hostages, and captives in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement issued, the Omani foreign ministry appreciated the efforts and said agreement will allow the entry of humanitarian and relief aid in Gaza.
“The ceasefire will begin on Sunday and last six weeks initially, including the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and release of hostages taken by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian detainees held by Israel,” said Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who mediated the talks along with the US and Egypt.
