Oman Steps Up Diplomatic Efforts Amid Escalating Regional Tensions Following Israeli Aggression on Iran

Muscat: In response to escalating regional tensions following Israeli military aggression against Iran, the Sultanate of Oman has intensified its diplomatic engagement to promote de-escalation and peaceful resolution.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik received two high-level phone calls—one from German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and another from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan—to discuss the rapidly unfolding developments and the urgent need for coordinated international diplomacy.

In parallel, senior-level talks between Oman and Germany were held in Muscat, reaffirming the shared commitment to conflict resolution through dialogue. The discussions brought together Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and his German counterpart Dr Johann Wadephul, who is currently on an official visit to the Sultanate.

The dialogue focused on the escalating crisis in the region, particularly the Israeli attacks on key Iranian sovereign facilities, which have led to significant casualties. The humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Gaza Strip, including widespread destruction, violence, displacement, and allegations of genocide, was also a focal point of discussion.

HE Sayyid Badr strongly condemned Israel’s violations of international law, including attacks on state sovereignty. He reiterated Oman’s unwavering support for a two-state solution and called for the expansion of international recognition of the State of Palestine.

Both sides agreed on the urgency of strengthening diplomatic channels and exerting collective pressure to halt the violence and restore regional stability. The talks emphasized that diplomacy remains the only viable path to achieving lasting peace and security.

In continued efforts, Oman’s Foreign Minister has been conducting intensive consultations with counterparts in various allied and friendly nations, seeking to build political and legal momentum to curb Israeli aggression and prevent further escalation.

These efforts underscore Oman’s steadfast commitment to peace, justice, and international law. Guided by principles of rational dialogue and mutual respect, Oman continues to advocate for stability and a future marked by security, development, and cooperation for all peoples of the region.
