Muscat : The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 25th Meeting of GCC Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held today in the State of Kuwait.
The Omani delegation was led by Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and integration among GCC countries in the fields of higher education, research, and innovation. Key topics included the development of unified systems for higher education and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across member states.
Participants also explored standardized teaching and learning methodologies, strategies for enhancing community engagement, and expanding regional and international collaborations to support future-oriented educational growth in line with global advancements.
In addition, the meeting addressed the importance of digital transformation and cybersecurity within higher education institutions. Discussions included upgrading the Gulf Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and expanding international partnerships.
The ministers reviewed a proposal by the GCC Secretariat General to revise the organizational structure of existing committees and working groups related to higher education and research. Another key point of discussion was a proposal to integrate the concept of “GCC citizenship” into the curricula of higher education institutions across the Gulf region.
