Oman Medical Specialty Board hosts annual forum to shape future of healthcare

MUSCAT : Held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Nasser bin Rashid Al Maawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, highlighted OMSB’s commitment to shaping the future of healthcare in the Sultanate.
In her opening address, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima bint Mohammed Al Ajmi, CEO of OMSB, emphasized the forum’s vital role in fostering professional collaboration and encouraging scientific research among resident physicians and medical students.
The forum underscored the inseparability of scientific research from the medical profession, with discussions delving into emerging disease management, transmission, and treatment trends. An accompanying exhibition showcased OMSB’s robust academic offerings, including 21 specialized training programs, seven local fellowship programs, and its flagship General Foundation Program. Participants also explored services from academic departments, the Oman Medical Journal, and institutions like the Ministry of Health and Sultan Qaboos University.
Over 750 attendees, including students from Sultan Qaboos University and the National University, interns, and general practitioners, gained insights into OMSB’s training and academic systems. Highlights included career guidance tailored to aspiring specialists and collaborative exhibits from prominent institutions, reflecting the forum’s commitment to shaping informed career choices and strengthening Oman’s healthcare sector.

The forum concluded with an awards ceremony, celebrating achievements in scientific research and poster presentations.
