Oman Launches Regional Campaign to Promote Dhofar Khareef in GCC Cities

Muscat : The Sultanate of Oman has launched a wide-ranging promotional campaign to showcase the Dhofar Khareef season, targeting key cities across the Gulf region. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the initiative includes a series of interactive events and promotional activities in major shopping malls to attract tourists to Dhofar Governorate, one of Oman’s most iconic summer destinations.

Starting annually on June 21, the Dhofar Khareef season is renowned for its cool climate, lush green landscapes, and rich cultural experiences, offering a welcome retreat from the intense summer heat experienced across the GCC.

Highlighting Salalah as a Key Summer Destination

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the unique tourism offerings in Salalah, the capital of Dhofar, by highlighting:

  • Recreational and eco-tourism activities
  • Visits to heritage and archaeological sites
  • Family-friendly seasonal events
  • Direct flight connectivity from key Gulf cities

These efforts are part of a broader strategy to position Salalah as a premier summer destination within the region.

Active Engagement with GCC Tourists

The Ministry is actively engaging with GCC audiences, providing comprehensive travel information, promotional materials, and travel planning support. The campaign places special emphasis on making travel to Salalah more convenient, particularly through the promotion of direct flight routes from GCC countries.

Strategic Promotions Across the Gulf

Earlier this year, the Ministry officially launched its Khareef campaign at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, in collaboration with Dhofar Municipality, to spotlight upcoming attractions and cultural events during the Khareef season.

The promotional efforts continued with two targeted workshops in Riyadh and Jeddah, organized in partnership with Flynas, Flyadeal, and key stakeholders from Dhofar’s tourism sector.

Similar activities were also held in Kuwait and Bahrain, as part of a broader Gulf-focused promotional tour designed to expand regional awareness and drive tourism flows to Dhofar during the monsoon season.
