Oman emphasizes joint action for Syria at expanded Arab meeting

Muscat : His Excellency Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, headed the Sultanate’s delegation at the expanded Arab meeting on Syria, which was held today, January 12, in Riyadh with the aim of discussing regional and international efforts to achieve stability in Syria and support political solutions to the crisis.
In his speech during the meeting His Excellency reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to assisting Syria in shaping a prosperous future by focusing on achieving security, unity, development, and reconstruction. He emphasised the significance of joint Arab action in supporting the aspirations of the Syrian people and called for the lifting of international economic sanctions that have hindered Syria’s ability to recover and rebuild.

His Excellency welcomed the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Syrian Transitional Government, stressing that this meeting represents an important step towards supporting Syria to restore its natural position in its Arab, regional and international surroundings.

His Excellency stressed the importance of joint action to support the aspirations of the Syrian people for the future and participate in shaping this future and towards achieving security, unity, development, reconstruction and lifting international economic sanctions.

At the international level, His Excellency stressed the importance of continuing to demand that the United Nations and the Security Council assume their responsibilities and take firm measures to ensure the Israeli withdrawal from Mount Hermon, Quneitra Governorate, and all Syrian territories, and full commitment to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

His Excellency further pointed out that this meeting reflects the positive spirit of collective cooperation and shared responsibility in supporting Syria and in consolidating peace and stability in the region.
