Oman-China Academic Ties Strengthen as Sultan Qaboos University Hosts Chinese Delegation

Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) continues to bolster its academic collaboration with Chinese institutions, as His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, Chancellor of SQU, welcomed a high-level Chinese delegation to the university campus. The visit underscores the growing educational and cultural ties between Oman and China.

During the meeting, the Chancellor highlighted SQU’s pivotal role in nurturing future leaders across various sectors and emphasized the importance of international partnerships in achieving academic excellence. He pointed to existing collaborations with Chinese universities, particularly the agreement signed last year to teach the Chinese language at SQU’s College of Arts and Social Sciences.

The Chancellor also emphasized the significance of scholarships and active student exchange programs that continue to build bridges between Omani and Chinese academic institutions. These initiatives aim to foster mutual understanding and cultural exchange between the two nations.

The Chinese delegation praised the achievements of Sultan Qaboos University at the national level and spotlighted the Sultan Qaboos bin Said Chair for Arabic Language Studies at Peking University, established in 2007. The Chair plays a key role in translating Arabic-Chinese literature, conducting studies on Oman-China relations, and fostering cultural understanding through student activities and academic initiatives.

This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the academic and cultural ties between Oman and China, paving the way for future collaborations in various fields of study.
