Oman Budget 2025: Social and basic sectors dominate spending with allocation reaching RO 5 billion

Muscat: According to Minister Al Habsi, the total allocation for social and basic sectors has reached an impressive RO 5 billion, representing a substantial 42 percent of Oman’s total public spending for 2025. Of that amount, 39 percent will be directed to the education sector to bolster schools, training programs, and infrastructure, followed by 28 percent for the social security sector to expand coverage and enhance support for vulnerable groups. Health services will also see a major boost with 24 percent of the budget, focused on improving healthcare facilities and patient care.

Additionally, the budget designates RO 2.345 billion toward various expenditures. Key allocations include RO 577 million for social protection programs, RO 520 million to support the electricity sector, RO 194 million for water and sanitation, RO 35 million to subsidize petroleum products, RO 15 million for food commodities support, and RO 73 million to cover interest payments on development and housing loans.
