Oman Airports announce safety measures ahead of reopening

DUBAI

Oman Airports, which manages civil airports in the Sultanate of Oman, has announced a bevy of safety measures to be followed when operations resume.

“In cooperation with our strategic partners, we have implemented necessary safety measures at our airports to prepare for the return of passenger operations, when officially approved,” said a tweet from the government company. International standards and regulations will be strictly followed under the supervision of the Public Authority of Civil Aviation, it added.

These measures include sterilising devices for luggage trolleys, personal sanitising devices and temperature check for passengers before entering the terminals, continuous sterilisation of airport facilities and all luggage on conveyor belts, sanitising tools such as hand sanitisers, glass barriers at check-in counters, self check-in facility, stickers requesting passengers to maintain social distancing, and transferring passengers to the airport clinic in case of COVID-19 symptoms.

The airports in the country were closed on March 29 to halt the spread of COVID-19.
