Muscat : Oman Air has officially launched its inaugural direct flight service to Amsterdam, marking a significant step in expanding the airline’s European network and enhancing global connectivity. This four-times-weekly service is the first-ever direct link between the Sultanate of Oman and the Netherlands.
The launch ceremony, held at Muscat International Airport, was attended by dignitaries and senior officials, including His Excellency Azzan Qassim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism; H.H Dr. Faris Al Said, Member of the Technical Team for Oman Promotional Brand; Her Excellency Stella Kloth, Dutch Ambassador to Oman; along with top representatives from Oman Air, government entities, airport authorities, and media outlets.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Azzan Qassim Al Busaidi said:
“The launch of direct flights between Muscat and Amsterdam is a milestone that strengthens Oman’s position as a premium, accessible tourism destination. The Netherlands is a key market for us, and this new route will help attract more visitors to experience Oman’s rich landscapes, culture, and renowned hospitality. We commend Oman Air for this achievement and look forward to the growth opportunities it will create in tourism, trade, and investment.”
Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis stated:
“We are proud to commence operations to Amsterdam, a major European hub and a strategic addition to our growing network. This route not only links two dynamic cities but also opens up fresh opportunities for travelers worldwide. The timing is particularly significant, as it follows our official entry into the oneworld alliance just a day ago. This launch represents the forward momentum we are building for Oman Air, for the Sultanate, and for our valued guests.”
The Amsterdam route is Oman Air’s first new destination since joining the oneworld alliance and reflects the airline’s commitment to global expansion. Membership in oneworld allows Oman Air passengers to access over 900 destinations worldwide with seamless connectivity, while travelers from Europe now enjoy easier access to Oman’s scenic beauty, heritage, and hospitality.
With Amsterdam, Oman Air now serves 11 destinations in Europe, including Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan, Rome, Zurich, Istanbul, Trabzon, Moscow, and London (which will expand to double-daily flights in October). The new route aligns with Oman’s national tourism strategy and Vision 2040 goals by boosting international accessibility and promoting the Sultanate as a global travel hub.
