MUSCAT : As part of its commitment to achieving the highest standards and implementing best practices in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) aspects, Oman Electricity Transmission Company “OETC” recently concluded its 2024 HSE Campaign. The campaign, launched under the slogan “Beyond Zero,” lasted for four months and included a series of programs, workshops, initiatives, field visits, and awareness lectures. These activities targeted various segments of society, including school students and employees of governmental entities. The events were organized across all governorates of the Sultanate to promote awareness of health, adherence to safety measures, and compliance with environmental standards to protect Oman’s environment.
Fahad Nasser Al-Kiyumi, General Manager of Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment at OETC, reaffirmed the company’s continuous commitment to adopting best practices and ensuring compliance with local and international standards. He emphasized the importance of instilling and promoting a strong HSE culture among all stakeholders, highlighting the vital role each individual plays in achieving the company’s goals in this domain.
Al-Kiyumi added: “OETC’s dedication to achieving the highest quality, health, safety, and environmental standards is reflected through various initiatives and accomplishments. In 2024, we conducted 24 workshops and training programs, carried out over 470 field visits and inspection campaigns at work sites, and organized numerous voluntary events to spread community awareness. Additionally, we actively participated in local and international forums and conferences, all of which contributed to strengthening compliance with HSE standards and procedures.” He stated that these efforts resulted in achieving 53 million safe working hours without any lost-time injuries, along with ‘zero’ major environmental incidents, underscoring the company’s success in fostering a safe and sustainable work environment.Top of Form

It is worth mentioning that OETC, a member of Nama Group, is the only company responsible for the transmission and control of electricity across the Sultanate’s network. The electricity is transmitted from production stations to distributed load centers in the governorates. The transmission network operates at a voltage of 132kV and above to cover most of the governorates in the Sultanate, whether in the north or the south. Furthermore, OETC manages the interconnection lines between Oman and the GCC interconnection network, which operates at a voltage of 220kV.
