MUSCAT : The committee, chaired by Riyadh bin Ali Sultan, will focus on reviewing existing laws and procedures governing car, spare parts, and tire showrooms, and propose solutions in collaboration with relevant authorities.
The newly formed Automotive Committee will also play a pivotal role in developing policies that support business growth, enhance investment, and streamline procedures within the sector.
Highlighting the significance of the new committee, Riyadh bin Ali Sultan stated: “The formation of the Automobile Committee is an important step in strengthening the automotive sector in the Sultanate of Oman. This sector plays a vital role in the Omani market, contributing to job creation in areas like automotive manufacturing, maintenance, spare parts sales, and logistics services. It also supports other economic activities such as trade and manufacturing, while boosting the growth of small and medium-sized businesses.”
The Automotive Committee is one of 19 sectoral committees established by the OCCI, reflecting the Chamber’s commitment to representing the diverse interests of the private sector. These committees play a crucial role in understanding the economic and commercial landscape, monitoring sector-specific challenges, and proposing solutions to relevant authorities.
The committee’s goals include fostering a favourable environment for business growth, enhancing investment opportunities, and simplifying processes within the automotive industry. Riyadh Sultan highlighted the sector’s potential in attracting both local and foreign investments, aligning with the Chamber’s strategic objectives to improve the business climate and diversify the economy.
