No casualty in fire at Dubai Duty Free warehouse

A fire broke out in the issuing yard of the Dubai Duty Free warehouse in Umm Ramool around 2pm on August 10 but it was quickly contained by Dubai Civil Defence teams.

Officials of Dubai Duty Free said all employees were evacuated safely. No injuries were reported either and cooling operations were completed.

The blaze was a minor one and controlled in 14 minutes by firefighters from Al Rashidiya centre, said officials.

The Dubai Duty Free thanked the emergency services teams for their “swift action”.

“Dubai Civil Defence were quickly on scene and extinguished the fire within minutes,” said a Dubai Duty Free spokesman.
“There were no injuries during the incident and we thank the emergency services for their swift action.”

It is not clear what products were stored in the gutted warehouse. A forensic team will investigate the cause of the fire. Authorities have urged business owners and residents to conduct necessary checks to ensure all electrical systems are working properly.

On July 28, a fire had broken out in two warehouses at Dubai Investment Park. While the blaze was brought under control, one firefighter was killed in the line of duty, and another was injured.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council paid a tribute to first sergeant Adil Nasser Saleh who was martyred during his call to duty.
