Muscat : One of the key discussions included the approval of the National Museum’s annual report for 2024. The meeting also focused on the establishment of three new projects aimed at enhancing the Sultanate of Oman’s cultural and tourism sectors.

The meeting, chaired by His Excellency Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, addressed plans to open a branch of the State Hermitage Museum in Dhofar Governorate. The move is part of ongoing efforts to expand the museum’s cultural reach and increase the accessibility of Oman’s heritage.

In addition to this, the Board discussed a project to revive traditional Omani men’s dress, aiming to strengthen and promote Omani identity through the preservation of its cultural attire.

As part of its commitment to promoting cultural tourism and embracing digital transformation, the meeting also deliberated on the development of an interactive smartphone application designed to showcase Oman’s cultural heritage to Russian-speaking audiences. The app, which will focus on Oman’s rich history and treasures, is intended to attract more Russian tourists to the Sultanate.
