NASA head Jim Bridenstine may step down as Biden takes command

NIRMAL YESODA

As Donald Trump has failed to rack up the magic number of 270 electoral votes in the US presidential elections, it has become clear that Democrat Joe Biden will lead the United States for the next four years. And now, new reports suggest that NASA chief will step down as Joe Biden will grab command of the nation.

According to a report published in the Aerospace Daily, Biden believes that NASA will have a better chance of political success with a new chief. It should be also noted that Bridenstine is a former Republican Congressman from Oklahoma. He became the NASA administrator in 2018.

“You need somebody who is trusted by the administration … I think that I would not be the right person for that in a new administration,” Bridenstine told Aerospace Daily.

The comments from Bridenstine come when NASA is formulating plans to land the next set of humans in moon in 2024. Even though the space agency has faced a lack of funding, experts believe that NASA experts are trying their best to materialise this mission.

Space experts believe that building a permanent human base on the moon will be the first step to achieve the ultimate goal of Mars colonisation. In these upcoming missions, NASA is expected to work with private space companies such as that of Elon Musk’s SpaceX as well.
