Muscat : The ambitious metro network will span approximately 50 kilometres, connecting the burgeoning Sultan Haitham City with the central business hub of Ruwi. The route is strategically designed to incorporate around 36 stations, providing crucial links to key areas including Muscat International Airport, the Ghala commercial district, and the vibrant city center of Al Khuwair.
As a flagship initiative under Oman Vision 2040, the Muscat Metro holds immense importance; the project stands as a cornerstone of future public transport development in the capital.
Designed to ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity between major residential and commercial areas, and reduce the environmental footprint of urban mobility, the project aims to transform daily commuting in Muscat. Officials say the metro will not only enhance public transport efficiency but also stimulate economic growth and support sustainability goals.
