Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 wickets in the 48th IPL match at Abu Dhabi on October 28 night. The team chased down the total of 164 set up by RCB in 19.1 overs.

RCB, after being sent to bat first, had a good start provided by Devdutt Padikkal (74 off 45) and Josh Philippe (33 off 24). The team floundered in powerplay and finished with 164/6, at least 20 runs short. The collapse was caused by Jasprit Bumrah who took two wickets in a maiden over and earned 3/14. Skipper Virat Kohli fell for 9 and AB de Villiers for 15.

Mumbai’s chase had a setback initially with the fall of two wickets. But Suryakumar Yadav (79 runs off 43 balls) smashed an unbeaten 79 even as wickets kept falling around him.

Hardik Pandya (17) was dismissed by Chris Morris (caught by Mohammed Siraj) and Krunal Pandya (10) by Yuzvendra Chahal (caught by Chris Morris). Saurabh Tiwary was caught by Devdutt Padikkal in Mohammed Siraj’s over. Ishan Kishan (25) was felled by Chahal caught by Chris Morris. Mohammed Siraj took the wicket of Quinton de Kock (18).
