Mudslide kills three of a family in Idukki, 2 others missing

The search operation for the missing people is underway. Recovered bodies were taken to hospital. The accident happened at around 3 AM on Monday.

Thodupuzha: Three people were killed, and two others went missing in a landslide in Kudayathoor in Idukki district. The mudslide washed the house of Soman of Maliyekkal Colony away, killing the family members.

The dead bodies of Soman’s mother Thankamma, daughter Shima and grandson Aadidev were recovered. While Soman and wife Shiji are still missing. Their house was destroyed completely. The search operation for the missing people is underway. Recovered bodies were taken to hospital. The accident happened at around 3 AM on Monday. The roads and farmland nearby the house too were washed away. The rescue operations got delayed as the roads were collapsed. A team of NDRF personnel from Thrissur will soon arrive at the site. District collector Sheeba George paid visit to the scene. She informed that the traffic in Puliyanmala stretch has been restricted till Monday night. Isolated heavy rains had triggered landslides in parts of Kannur as well on Sunday.
