Lulu Group Chairman M.A. Yusuff Ali once again extended his helping hand to the Pathanapuram Gandhi Bhavan, where the poorest people live together.
The Gandhi Bhavan family is made up of thousands of poor people, including the disabled and the mentally and physically challenged, from infants to the elderly. There are more than 200 attendants here.
The Gandhi Bhavan was being maintained with the help of many people who came to visit it from different countries. Gandhi Bhavan spends around Rs.3 lakh a day on food, treatment, honoraria for service personnel and other daily necessities. During the COVID-19 period all aid was limited and Gandhi Bhavan was burdened with a debt of Rs.2 crores.
It was in this context that Lulu Group Regional Director Joy Shadanandan and Media Co-ordinator N.B. Swaraj went to Gandhi Bhavan and handed over a demand draft of Rs.40 lakh. Mr. Yusuff Ali had donated Rs.25 lakhs to Gandhi Bhavan in April 2020 for COVID defence activities.
The construction of a building for the poor at Gandhi Bhavan with modern facilities at a cost of over Rs. 15 crores is on in full swing; The inauguration is expected later this year.
