Trams and Kolkata are synonymous. The city has trams so finely etched in its character that “Kolkata Trams” is a mixture of heritage, romance and clean transport. Now this historic tram will get more interesting, especially for bibliophiles and students as Kolkata starts first-of-its kind tram library.
This specially designed library will have books and magazines, including those on competitive examinations such as the civil services, GRE or GMAT .
The tram library will travel regularly in a particular route, mainly through the city’s educational hub.
The tram car will also have free wifi, which will help passengers read e-books. The officials are also planning book reading sessions, book launches and literary festivals in the tram library in future.
This project is a dream come true that will give a new dimension to the city’s heritage, a tram service running since 1902.
